THE SEDLAK STORY

In 1947, John P. Sedlak (fondly known as JP for Jet-Propelled) started what became Sedlak Interiors. With only $2 in his pocket, JP bought jewelry at cost from an acquaintance and began selling it. He came to a vital realization that led to new business opportunities: engagement rings meant marriages, and marriages meant new homes. JP soon started selling refrigerators, electric roasters, and even auto parts. By 1949, the fledgling business had grown and JP opened his first store on Woodland Avenue near Shaker Square in Cleveland, Ohio.

AN ERA OF EXPANSION

Over the next 40 years, as the Sedlak family expanded, so did Sedlak Interiors. We cultivated a reputation for discount prices and excellent customer service. Despite expanding into 14 buildings at the same location, Sedlak Interiors outgrew Woodland Avenue. In 1989, the Sedlak family opened a new headquarters in Solon, Ohio, featuring our massive warehouse and the magnificent Street of Dreams® fine furniture showroom. Today, JP's wife Dorothy, son Jeff, daughter Jan, and grandson Charles manage the business.

Sedlak’s 142,000 square foot Street of Dreams® showroom features hundreds of the top international designer brands displayed in 27 inviting galleries, each with many fully accessorized room settings. When you shop in our Street of Dreams® showroom, our sales experts will answer all of your questions and ensure that you find a piece that best suits your home décor. Get advice on color, style, custom creations, and even on how many relatives can sit at the table!
