The Hickory Chair Furniture Company began in 1911 with a simple, single product mission: create a made-to-order dining chair that combines authentic, hand-made craftsmanship with modern manufacturing. Since then, Hickory Chair products have evolved into an assortment of custom-built upholstery, dining tables and chairs, accent furniture, cabinets, bedroom furniture, lighting, and décor accessories. Their fine furnishings cover an expansive array of international styles, from American antiques and modern designs to cultural influences from Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Sweden, China, and Japan. Award-winning designers like Susan and Katharine Hable, Mariette Himes Gomez, Ray Booth, Suzanne Kasler, and David Phoenix collaborate with a team of talented artisans to design and handcraft each piece.
M2M® Made to Measure Custom Upholstery & Wood Furnishings
Hickory Chair’s M2M® Made to Measure pieces are custom designed to your specifications. Personalize sofas, loveseats, sectionals, chaises, lounge chairs, ottomans, and other upholstered seating in addition to cocktail tables, coffee tables, and side tables. Choose from dozens of hand-applied wood finishes, over 500 premium fabrics, over 40 luxurious leathers, and nearly 100 decorative trims! You can even add monogramming to your upholstered pieces for an extra personal flair and select skirt and seat cushion options. Hickory Chair also offers Customer’s Own Hardware® and Customer’s Own Veneer® options if you prefer to provide your own materials.
Personal Preference Dining Table Program
Dining tables by Hickory Chair are available in several exquisite hardwood solids and veneers, including mahogany, ash, beeswing, primavera, cherry, and walnut. Create your one-of-a-kind dining table by choosing the style of wood distressing, table base, table top shape and material, apron design, and color striping options. Pair your Hickory Chair dining table with upholstered dining chairs, counter stools, or banquettes to complete your sophisticated dining experience.
Handcrafted Cabinets
Add stylish storage space to your dining room, living room, home office, or entertainment area with handmade cabinets by Hickory Chair. A bookcase styled after an antique Dutch neoclassical library cabinet infuses a room with cultural elegance. Exhibit treasured photos, decorative objects, and art in a glass door display cabinet with adjustable shelving and interior lighting. Modular plinth bases enable you to design your own étagère bookcase or console. Function meets form in Hickory Chair’s tansu, a traditional Japanese mobile storage cabinet that can be used as a sideboard, bedroom armoire, or even a TV entertainment center.
Custom Bedroom Furniture
Hickory Chair upholstered beds are available in Twin, Queen, King, and California King sizes. Choose between poster beds, sleigh beds, panel beds, and platform beds. The Made To Order™ Bed Collection features decorative, sculptural headboards with design details such as button tufting and nailhead trim. Complete your Hickory Chair bedroom set with nightstands, bedside tables, dressers, and drawer chests that feature decorative panel overlays, hand-carved motifs, and striking hardware.
Lighting & Décor Accessories

Their table lamps and floor lamps incorporate a variety of sophisticated materials such as marble, waxstone, quartered walnut, gold leaf, faux shagreen, cognac leather trim, and antique metal accents.
